A Crafty Creative Re-Use

Hi Everyone,

This week I got crafty with some old crockery and glassware and thought that I would share the idea with you. It only took me five minutes and a little glue to complete and the end result was well worth it. I think it would make a lovely gift idea too so I might make a few more. To make this three tier cake stand all you need is three plates and two small wine or sherry glasses and some high strength craft glue. Here is the end result.

Here are a few by professionals for inspiration, I love the idea of the china cup vase at the top.

So the next time you think about throwing out that odd plate or mismatched glass hold back I am sure you will find a use for it, for some ides on how to re-use other household items have a look at one of our old posts, The Creative Re-use

Review # 17 Cafe Nero Clapham London

jThis week I was over in London for a day checking out my new house for the next year. While I was there I met up with a lovely Irish lady who suggested we met up for a coffee so she could tell me about all the goings on in Clapham. I was baby free for the day but was keen to find some new places that were baby friendly in the area. She has a beautiful 10 month old baby and recommended Cafe Nero. Now in my experience Cafe Nero is just a quick in and out grab a coffee kind a place, few tables ect but when I walked in to this Cafe Nero I was pleasantly surprised.

Cafe Nero
21 Battersea Rise
Battersea SW11 1 HG
Telephone +44 20 7350 2792

This Cafe Nero was like no other Cafe Nero I have been in before. From the out side it looked the same few tables, muffins soups and sandwiches for sale plus a few organic baby food in pouches for sale, but nothing super special, but as I went further in to the back it opened up to a bigger space with a little play area with lots of toys for babies and toddlers. There was about 7 high chairs all stacked up in the corner, and the baby changing was right beside that. No small stair case to go down while struggling with your wriggling baby under one arm as you try and clutch the nappy bag in the other. It was an easy access disabled toilet with lots of space to change your little one.
As I sat in there drinking my latte and watching her little girl played I missed my little man. I cant wait to take him in there so he can enjoy the toys while I drink my coffee watching him.

Clapham Junction is the nearest tube station and it take about 5 mins to walk there. There is a few great playgrounds next door in Clapham Common and there is a zoo in Battersea park all within walking distance.

Defiantly a place to check out if you are in the area

Tara's Moving..

Hi Folks,
Sorry I have been so bad at posting lately, Luckily Mama Angi is on the ball and has been updating the blog. I am moving over to London in a month and we have had a bit of a nightmare trying to find a house. As soon as I find a house, we are beaten to the mark, but it looks like (fingers crossed) we have found a lovely house in Clapham. Its aptly called Nappy Valley as there are lots of young families who live around the area. I will be doing lots of lovely reviews from there for the next year and finding all the best places for us Mama's to take our little ones.  I am going to miss Angi and Amelie terribly, but I know that this next year we will be having lots of adventures with them, home and abroad.
So for now I am back to packing up boxes..

Amelie and Dylan Toddle for Barnardos

Our competition searching for your best travel tips is up and running. You could win a €150 prize for Studioworks Photography in Dalkey to capture some special relaxed family shots. To enter read the blog 'Studioworks Photography Competition' and leave a comment.

Recently my husband and I decided that we wanted to do something together to give back a little to the community in which we live. We both love to volunteer but as our lives are now so busy with Amelie, working, blogging ;) and trying to have quality family time together we have found that we seem to be all about us and a little less about helping others. We discovered a great opportunity to take part in the Big Toddle for Barnardos and set about registering our own team and hosting our very first charity event for Barnardos and the local Cuidiu Toddler Group we go to each week.

All over Ireland thousands of toddlers are in training for the Big Toddle for Barnardos. We have decided to join forces with one of Amleie and Dylan's favourite playgroups the Cuidiu in Glenageary to help raise much need funds for Cuidiu and Barnardos. 25% of what we raise will go to Cuidiu and the other 75% to the wonderful children's charity Barnardos.
Over the past seven years the event has raised a total of €2 million euro and seen more than 112,500 children participate. The funding has enabled Barnardos to continue its work with more than 5,500 children and their families each year. Neighbours, friends and family can sponsor toddles online. Amelie and Dylan both have their own online sponsorship pages or you are welcome to sponsor us as a team Glenageary Cuidiu. The website also provides information on how to organise a toddle and there is still time to register and host a Toddle this summer.

Visit http://www.barnardos.ie/?bigtoddle or phone 1850 222 300 for more information on the Big Toddle for Barnardos and how you can get involved.

If you have a baby or toddler that would like to take part in our Big Toddle in the Glenegary Cuidiu on Wednesday 22nd of June you can pick up a sponsorship pack at the next playgroup or comment with your e-mail address and we will get in touch.

Thankyou for supporting Cuidiu and of course the wonderful charity Barnardos.

Happy toddling to all,

Review #16 - Marryatville Hotel, Adeliade Australia

Hi Everyone, here is the review for this week. Our competition searching for your best travel tips is up and running. You could win a €150 prize for Studioworks Photography in Dalkey to capture some special relaxed family shots. For details on how to win read the blog 'Studioworks Photography Competition' and for more information on Studioworks Photography check out the blog 'Studioworks Photography.' Now, on to this weeks review...

This week I was inspired by our review contribution from Liz in Nashville, Tennessee and Tara’s reviews from her travels I wanted to bring you a review from somewhere a little more exciting too. I thought back to my trip to Australia and remembered a great place that I went with my family and a load of kids. As a special treat I have also done a write up on the Adelaide Zoo, it is a wonderful Zoo to visit with your children, not as packed with tourists as the bigger capital city Zoo's and just one of many reasons Adelaide should be on your list of places to visit on your Australian holiday....

The Marryatville Hotel

A: 239 Kensington Road, Kensington, South Australia
T: +61 8 8333 2242
E: enquiries@ marryatvillehotel.com.au

The Marryativille Hotel screams family friendly and if you want to share a great meal with excellent pub food this is the place to go. It is located about 10 minutes out of the city and has a modern bistro bar and an undercover outdoor dining area which includes a huge children’s play area.

The menu is packed with all your typical Australian Pub grub; you will find great steaks, seafood and of course my favourite the unbeatable chicken parmy! With special plastic cups decorated with Australian native animals for the kids, an extensive kids menu and an ice cream bar your children will be in heaven. They will also be exhausted and ready for naps by the time you leave. The service is genuinely friendly. All the staff were very attentive and patient. We were a large group with loads of kids and it did not faze them one bit.

If the weather is lovely as it mostly is in Adelaide sitting outside is definitely your best option. The undercover area also has heaters for when it gets a bit cool. As you sit and enjoy your meal you can watch your children dart around the huge playground, it will really tire them out. For older children there are some free video games too. I had a lovely day here with my family I hope that you do too.

Studioworks Photography, Win Family Photos!

Hello everyone,

If you are anything like my husband and I you will have a zillion amazing photos of you and your babies. We take so many on our digital camera so not to miss a single thing but recently decided to get some professional photos done. Hazel Tracey, the photographer from our wedding got in touch with us to tell us about her new studio on Hyde Road in Dalkey. Hazel has recently launched her company Studioworks Photography. She did not have to say anymore we were there the very next week with Amelie!

Hazel is incredible with children and Amelie had such an enjoyable time. Hazel knew when to try to get Amelie to pose to get those amazing shots or when to let Amelie run off to investigate or go on some little adventure so she would not get bored or cranky. We left with huge smiles on our face having had a really great time in the studio and were eagerly anticipating seeing the photos. We were not dissapointed.

Studioworks Photography offer very reasonable prices with a 1hr studio session priced at just €55. We also love that you can purchase a cd or usb of all the images which is not an option at many photography studios around. It just means if you want to keep all the photos and print them up yourself you can. Hazel has great offers on framed photos, photobooks and canvas prints too, I know what Amelie's grandparents are getting for their coming birthdays this year :) Pop over to http://www.studioworksphotography.ie/ for more information or find them on facebook.

Here are some of the photo's she captured of us on the day...

We have great news for all of our facebook friends and blog followers, we are running  a competition till the end of June to win a free photo shoot at Studioworks Photography for you and your family. We will post all the details of the prize over the weekend but in the meantime all you have to do is like our face book page or follow our blog with your gmail or yahoo e-mail account and you could be in the running to win this great prize. Hope to see ou around at the local play groups where we will have pricelists for Studioworks Photography and 20% discounts to give away.

Review # 15 Cafe Libro Dundrum

Cafe Libro
3rd Floor Dundrum

I like many Dublin mums make my way to the award winning shopping center Dundrum on a weekly basis. I thought I knew every cafe and resturant in there, apparently not. On the 3rd floor just out side the exit door, hidden in side Hughs&Hughs bookstore, is the most darling little cafe, Cafe Libro. With is funky decor, comfy sofas, yummy food and enough toys and magazines to keep you and your little one entertained for hours, why would you want to go anywhere else!?.
Their menu has everything from soups, sandwiches wraps and all the naughty goodies for the Mummies for the toddlers and babies there is the Junior menu,( a sandwich with a little ginger bread man), and Ella's kitchen squeezy packs. The friendly staff and the sun filled room give a great ambiance. Its also the little things that makes this cafe one of my top five places to go, they have mint in the jugs of water that are on the table, they have scented nappy bags in the changing room, they have a box of toys just for the babies and nothing is any trouble to them.
Not many people know about this place as it is just out side the main shopping center ( I mean literally) unlike the other over crowed places in Dundrum this has space for you to chill out.
So if you happen to be in Dundrum please go and check out Cafe Libro. Big thumbs up from The Yummy Mummies and the Jetsetting Babies.

...Thanks,
